Community service is at the core of all programs and events implemented by ULYP-GP. Whether it’s a home buying seminar tailored for the general public or packaging food for the annual Thanksgiving food giveaway, ULYP-GP members strive to serve the community-at-large, primarily focusing on the youth. This committee demonstrates ULYP-GP commitment to various aspects of the five-point empowerment agenda by providing our members opportunities give back. This committee is responsible for the launch of Young Blacks Give Back, and much more!! View the calendar to find out where and when is the next opportunity for you to get involved.

Young Blacks Give Back (YBGB) 2008 While we perform a great deal of community service internal and external to ULYP‐GP, our pride and joy was our first annual Young Blacks Give Back during the month of May. In the tradition of the Thursday Network, this Community Service Initiative was well received in our community and we contributed a total of 300+ hours of community service performing a weekly service project based on the NUL Five Point Empowerment Agenda. Below are pictures and a quote from one of our collaborating sponsors and the Fact Sheet is attached.
“This program exceeded our expectations. We witnessed amazing interaction between the Young Professionals and the youth, providing us with an opportunity to learn more about the role that mentoring can play in the lives of our the young men and women. It was a pleasure to have more than thirty young black professionals show how much they care by spending their Saturday with 17 year olds who clearly were impressed at their honesty and willingness to listen.”
