Professional development is a central part of what is offered to ULYP‐GP membership. This committee strategically plans and implements events that contribute to career, personal and professional development. Events that focus on areas such as branding yourself, networking with human resources representatives from various companies, personal issues and other issues related to the five-point empowerment agenda.
Boards and Organizational Leadership The dynamic leaders of the ULYP‐GP represent an array of talents, backgrounds, skills, networks and vision for “Bridging the Gap” – our theme for this period. The overall goals were to connect members to each other, to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, to career opportunities, to the community and toward self‐actualization. It is also important to note that four (4) members of ULYP‐GP currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, two (2) members were appointed to the Propel Commission for young adults and young professionals by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, and (2) members have been selected to participate in Leadership Pittsburgh LDI program.
